DENTAL IMPLANTS CLEARWATER

Dental implants are small artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed in your jawbone to support a replacement tooth. This replacement tooth, or crown, is designed to look and feel like your natural tooth, restore the aesthetic appearance of your smile, provide natural functionality, and reducing your risk of developing other oral health issues.

About Dental Implants

SAME DAY TEETH®

Same Day Teeth® is an innovative surgical procedure that allows for placement of implants and restorative teeth to occur on the same day. If you have been dealing with a missing tooth or several teeth or are unsatisfied with traditional dentures but have been postponing seeking treatment because of the amount time needed, Same Day Teeth® might be the ideal solution for you.

About Same Day Teeth

FULL MOUTH DENTAL IMPLANTS

Full mouth dental implants are often recommended if you are missing all or nearly all your teeth. Our office can offer to you several treatment options for full mouth dental implants, including multiple implants, All-on-4, All-on-6, implant supported dentures, and Same Day Teeth®. We are happy to schedule a free consultation to determine which implant treatment option is best for you.

About Full Mouth Dental Implants

IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES

Unlike conventional dentures, implant-supported dentures will provide you a superior level of stability and support, eliminate the need for annoying denture adhesives, restore your healthy smile, and return your ability to eat the foods you enjoy. Implant-supported dentures are often recommended for patients missing all their teeth, but who still have enough jawbone to support several implants.

Implant Supported Dentures

ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS

Unlike titanium dental implants, which are smaller and drilled directly into the jawbone, Zygomatic Dental Implants are longer and are placed in the upper jawbone near the Zygoma bone, which is both denser and more cortical than the posterior maxillary bone. Because of the sturdy anchoring support and widened distribution of stress of these tilted implants, it is possible to place the final prosthesis during the time of surgery, eliminating the need for a second appointment.

About Zygomatic Implants

GUM DISEASE TREATMENT

Around sixty-five million Americans currently suffer from some level of gum disease, an increasingly common inflammatory disease that is the primary cause of tooth loss. Gum disease will develop when bacterial plaque forms on your teeth and then begins to attack both your teeth and your gums, creating deepened pockets in the space between your gums, which then allows for even more bacteria to accumulate and accelerating the damage to the tissue.

About Gum Disease Treatments

TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Although every effort is always taken to preserve your natural teeth, there are situations when a tooth extraction is necessary for your oral health and to reduce the risk of any complications developing. A tooth extraction is most often performed when teeth have become irreparably damaged from infection, decay, fracture, periodontal disease or overcrowding.

About Tooth Extractions

WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL

Wisdom teeth removal is a quite common tooth extraction procedure. As wisdom teeth erupt, they can cause a number of negative impacts on your oral health, which include an increased risk of developing infections, jaw and nerve damage, cysts, and even (nonmalignant) tumors. To prevent and avoid these issues from developing, we strongly encourage our patients to consider having their wisdom teeth removed.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Sedation Dentistry

At Pinellas Periodontics & Implant Dentistry, we are committed to ensuring that you are as relaxed and comfortable as possible, which is why we may offer varying levels of sedation, including oral sedatives and nitrous oxide, which are effective methods for reducing your anxiety and placing you in a much more relaxed state of mind. Our Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are also certified to administer intravenous (IV) anesthesia.

About Sedation Dentistry

GUM RECESSION TREATMENT

Gum recession is a condition that can easily develop for a variety of reasons, such as your genetic predisposition, smoking, aggressive brushing, untreated bruxism, and, most commonly, gum disease. In addition to negatively impacting the appearance of your smile, gum recession will also cause an increase in your sensitivity to hot and cold foods and beverages, increase your risk of developing damaging gum disease, which then accelerates your risk of tooth and bone loss.

About Gum Recession Treatment

GUM GRAFTING

A gum graft is often performed to correct receded gums by taking a piece of soft tissue (usually from the roof of the mouth) or donor tissue and then suturing this tissue over the area of recession. Placing this new tissue will help stimulate new growth, reducing your risk of developing periodontal disease, and improving the aesthetic appearance of your smile.

About Gum Grafting

FRENECTOMY

A frenectomy is a very low-risk, outpatient treatment that is performed to correct frenum-related issues by simply clipping or removing the frenum. Frenectomies are usually performed for newborns to improve breastfeeding abilities. Frenectomies are also performed when the frenum is too short or tight, which will inhibit movement and make simple tasks such as talking or eating difficult. Frenectomies may also be performed as part of denture treatment to ensure a proper fit or also to address gum recession.

DENTAL BONE GRAFTING

A bone grafting treatment is an effective method of restoring jawbone mass to restore proper functioning. Dental bone grafts are often performed to correct a jaw injury or a defect, or as part of the dental implant process. Once the graft has facilitated the regeneration of bone tissue density and is fully integrated, there will be enough jawbone integrity to support the placement of a dental implant.

About Dental Bone Grafting

CROWN LENGTHENING

A crown lengthening procedure involves removing excess gum tissue using a surgical scalpel, a dental laser, or a combination of both. Crown lengthening might be performed for several reasons, including as a precursor to the final placement of a dental crown or a tooth extraction, to reduce your risk of developing periodontal disease, or to enhance the aesthetic appearance of your smile.

About Crown Lengthening

GUMMY SMILE & CONTOURING

A gummy smile is an excessive gingival display that creates the perception that the visible teeth are too short. A gummy smile can be the result of over-eruption of the maxillary anterior teeth, excessive vertical growth of the maxilla bone, hyperfunction of the muscles responsible for the opening the upper lip, genetic predisposition, abnormal eruption, or a combination of these factors. Gum contouring is performed to remove the excess tissue and therefore create a more balanced ratio of gum to teeth.

About Gummy Smile & Gum Contouring

SINUS LIFT

A sinus lift is a simple surgical procedure where the sinus membrane is lifted and then a bone graft is placed between your jawbone and your maxillary sinuses. There are several reasons why a sinus lift may be necessary, but the most common is due to insufficient bone height in the upper jawbone to adequately support a dental implant. Once the bone graft has facilitated successful regeneration of the bone tissue and fully integrated, there will be enough jawbone density to support and stabilize a dental implant.

About Sinus Lift

TOOTH EXPOSURE

When your teeth do not naturally erupt, it might be beneficial to perform tooth exposure to facilitate the natural eruption process and to then ensure that your teeth can move to their correct position. Teeth can become impacted for several reasons, which include dilacerations of the root, early loss, or prolonged retention of the primary canine, ankylosis, or discrepancies in the length of your arch and the size of the tooth. Proper treatment for the impacted tooth can vary, but usually involves placement of braces which will create space through which the impacted tooth can erupt.

About Tooth Exposure

RIDGE AUGMENTATION

Following a tooth extraction, we can perform a ridge augmentation to recreate the natural contour of your jaw and gums by placing bone grafting material in the socket of the tooth. Once the area has healed and the size and shape of the alveolar ridge is restored and evaluated to ensure it can provide sufficient structural integrity and stability, the dental implant can be placed.

About Ridge Augmentation

GUIDED TISSUE REGENERATION

Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) and Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) are surgical procedures that stimulate the growth of tissue or bone in locations that do not have sufficient volume or mass of gingiva or bone. GTR uses artificial membranes to prevent any soft tissue from growing into the defective site and is often used as part of the sinus lift or bone graft procedure, also following the removal of an impacted tooth or the preservation of a socket until a dental implant can be placed.

About Guided Tissue Regeneration

PERIODONTAL MAINTENANCE

Periodontal maintenance is often recommended if you have had or have periodontal disease. It will be recommended that you schedule regular periodontal maintenance every three to six months, with more frequent visits being necessary if you have an advanced case of periodontal disease or if you are more susceptible to developing periodontal disease. At your periodontal maintenance appointment, we will conduct a thorough examination of your gum pockets and provide a deep cleaning. An additional treatment will be provided as necessary.

About Periodontal Maintenance

GINGIVECTOMY

A gingivectomy can be performed for you if you do not respond to traditional periodontal therapeutic treatment, such as traditional scaling and root planning. During a gingivectomy, the gums are reshaped to reduce the pockets around your teeth, which encourage and harbor harmful bacteria. Gingivectomies are also performed to correct a gummy smile or improve the overall ratio and balance of your gums to teeth.

About Gingivectomy

OSSEOUS SURGERY

Osseous surgery can also be performed if you do not respond to traditional periodontal therapeutic treatment, such as scaling and root planning. During an osseous surgery treatment, any diseased bone and infected gum tissue are trimmed away and the depth of the pockets around your teeth are also reduced to inhibit the accumulation of harmful and damaging bacteria.

About Osseous Surgery

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

Much like all types of cancer, early detection is the best way to increase your likelihood of receiving successful treatment. Oral cancer symptoms often are not evident until the cancer has progressed, which is why it is so important to continue schedule regular oral cancer screenings. If a suspicious area is identified, we can perform a biopsy which can be examined by a pathologist to determine a proper diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, a personalized treatment plan can be developed.
